As promised during the by-election campaign, Cllr Mike Barker got the graffiti cleaned off the front of the old Rise Carr Social Club building. The owners of the club did not act to solve this problem, so Mike persuaded the Council's Street Scene team to clean it up.

There is still no further word about the intentions of the owner of the building. No planning application has been made, though we know they plan to convert the building into low cost flats.

Lib Dem Councillors in North Road ward will continue to monitor the situation to make sure local residents' interests are paramount. The building needs to be put to good use, but local residents' views must be taken into account.
