The North Road by-election resulted in a clear victory for the Liberal Democrats. We now hold all three seats in the ward for the first time since the enlarged ward was created in 2003.

The result:

Anne-Marie Curry (Lib Dem) 561

Labour 262

Conservative 115

BNP 106

Independent 60

Anne-Marie says, "Thank you for your wonderful support in our great by- election victory.

"This vote of confidence means I can continue to work on your behalf with Fred and Mike tackling the many problems in North Road ward.

"I am committed to following the tradition started by Ken and Sue Walker, and continued by Fred and Mike, of always putting the interests of the people of North Road first

"The hard work starts now...".
