Mike Barker for Darlington

Cllr Mike Barker

Date set for White Horse closure. A sad end to a brave fight.

10.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 7th Sep 2006

Despite the best efforts of local campaigners, who fought hard to protect their local hostelry from demolition and conversion to flats, the General Manager has announced that restaurant, bar, banqueting and conference facilities at the White Horse Hotel in Harrowgate Hill will close for good on September 17th. The bedroom block will close at Christmas.

It is envisaged that building work on the site will start in the spring of 2007.

A sad end to a brave fight.
