Cllr Mike Barker

Campaign against Incineration

6.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 10th May 2006

Darlington Liberal Democrats have submitted a Policy Motion to the Liberal Democrats' Federal Conference being held in Brighton in September. Our motion seeks to firm up the party's opposition to incineration as a solution to the growing problem of domestic waste. Incineration adds substantially to greenhouse gases. There are greener and cleaner alternatives which, combined with a more aggressive approach to recycling, offer a real chance to deal with the ever-growing mountain of domestic waste without consequent harm to the environment.
